Refund and Cancellation
BSA Policy on Membership Refunds
Policy 1: Resignations
Any member who is currently paying their subscription payment(s) by Standing Order and intends to resign at the time of renewal for the following year should notify their bank in the first instance, allowing at least 14 days notice, to ensure that the first payment due in January by Standing Order, or February by Direct Debit, is not processed. Inform the BSA Membership Secretary as soon as possible that you intend to resign. This can be done in three ways: a) by indicating on the renewal voucher which should then be returned, b) in writing to the BSA Office, or c) in an email to members@britsoc.org.uk. A record of the date of resignation will be recorded. The account holder/member is the only person authorised to cancel a Standing Order. All members, irrespective of their method of payment, must inform the BSA Membership Secretary that they wish to resign, who will then record the date of resignation. Standing Orders or Direct Debit payments received after the recorded date of resignation only, will be refunded in full within one month from receipt of payment. Members who contact the BSA to record their resignation from the association after the receipt of their Standing Order or Direct Debit payment(s) at the BSA will not be eligible to receive a refund.
Policy 2: Shortfalls
Members who pay a proportion of their subscription by Standing Order, and who then register their resignation from the Association, will not be eligible for a refund of monies paid. (See 1 above)
Policy 3: Death of a Member
In the unfortunate event of the BSA being informed of a death of one if its members, if the member's subscription for the current membership period has been paid, this will be refunded in full to their partner or immediate family.
Policy 4: Overpayments
Only refund amounts of £20.00 or over will be refunded. This is due to the administration and bank costs incurred in processing these payments.
Policy 5: Lapses
Where a member intends to allow their membership to lapse, they must notify their bank in the first instance, to ensure that any direct automated payments in favour of the BSA are cancelled.
